PALOMA TOP a gorgeous layered flutter short sleeve top with bust darts, a round neckline and optional shoestring tie belt. Wear with matching fabric skirt or wide trousers and jeans. The top can be tucked in or left long with addition of a shoestring belt, alternatively shorten the length to make a boxy top. Paloma top is available in sizes 8-22.
You can purchase a hard copy paper pattern or a PDF download.
Paloma is inspired by the amazingly beautiful and talented French designer Paloma Picasso. One of my all time heroes.

Here are some details about Size guide, finished garment measurements and fabric quantities.

The Paloma pattern is very easy and fun to make, involving making darts, inserting a sleeve, attaching a neck facing, making a tie belt, finishing edges – standard techniques that are not difficult to execute.
There are many ways in which to finish the sleeve raw edges. The blue floral top above sees the fluted sleeve layers finished with a simple overlocked edge, alternatively they can be edged with a tiny or rolled hem (see red version) on an overlocker (see video link). Check your overlocker manual which may vary from that shown.
Alternatively, if you dont own an overlocker, you can simply zig zag the edge and then turn under a narrow hem or use a rolled hem foot (see pic). Just tuck the edge under the curled flap at the front and keep the fabric taut as you sew (video below left). Or, an easier way is to use an paper method. A video tutorial for this method is linked below right.
